On this day (the 8th of May) in 1945, one of the worst wars to hit Europe came to an end. Although the war came to an end in the East months later, the reign of the terrible dictator Hitler ended. The Soviets had took Berlin and the 3rd Reich had fell. All though the only independent Turkic nation at the time (Turkey) was neutral, many men of the Turkic regions of Soviet Union fought against the Nazis. Aswell as the Soviet campaign in Eastern Europe, the British had finally managed to fight back after destroying the Germans in the Battle of Britain. Today will be remembered as a day of victory.
