Today, the Hasani A. Lig kicked off with North Hasanistan beating
South Hasanistan 19-7. Last year's season ended with South Hasanistan
(the Kirimizi Şampions) taking the
title after losing the first game to the North but beating them later
with to equal the goal difference leading to a 6-5 victory penalties.
The Hasani A. Lig is one of the world's smallest football (soccer) leagues aswell as being one of the shortest, being first held last year. The two teams in the league play each other twice in a neutral location, if like last season (the first ever season) both teams finish on equal points and equal goal difference, the last game will go to penalties which will decide the league champion. The games are 4 minutes long.
Ahead of the first game, North Hasanistan had said they want to avenge themselves and forget about last season where they lost on penalties.
As the game kicked off, the South took an easy 1-0 lead however it only lasted for seconds as the North equalized. The game was kept 1-1 until the North took a 2-1 lead, from there the South never recovered conceding 3 more goals to make the score 5-1. They finally scored to make the score 6-2 and then they began to play better. The North were starting to weaken but South Hasanistan struggled with one thing, getting on target as the North began to win 11-3. The South managed to make the score a tighter 12-6 and that looked a good chance to then equalize with North however the North scored 7 more to make the game 19-6 and demolish all hopes of the South winning the game. With seconds to go, the South got a last minute goal to shorten down the goal difference.
Although last year South Hasanistan equalized the goal difference to send the game to penalties and win they were only 2 goals down however now they are 12 goals down and the only way the South can win the league without going to penalties is that they must win by 13 goals which will be a struggle. And even to equal the goal difference would be a struggle. The North only need to win, draw or lose by 11 goals or less to win the league without going to penalties. But one thing is still with South Hasanistan, hope!
