Hasanistan signs "historic" agreement with Konraq-Kökqoyunlu

Today, neighbours Hasanistan and the State Union of Konraq and Kökqoyunlu ratified a treaty to enhance their already-close bilateral relations. The agreement expanded the so-called "Batyraq Pact" (not to be confused with the Batyr Bloc) to include open borders in the Greater Hasanistan region, a free trade area and cooperation in science, intelligence and aviation. President of the State Union Sebas Güneştarlası has described the agreement as "historic".

Konraq was formed in 2013 as a territory of Viadalvia. In 2016, the area was handed to Pavlov by Dachenia who had organised it under Hasanistan (at the time under direct Pavlovian administration, until 2017). The area was given independence from Hasanistan in 2018 amicably, with the two establishing the "Batyraq mutual defence pact" to defend the region from foreign interference. There had been fears in the past two years that Batyraq had become irrelevant, as Konraq faced political disturbances. However, following Konraq's stabilisation, enthusiasm over the Pact returned. Recently, the two allowed free movement of citizens through domestic legislation.

The "Enhanced Agreement on Eternal Friendship and Cooperation in the Greater Hasanistan Region" signed today has strengthened these close ties and sought to build them more in certain areas. The Pact established fully open borders for civilians and has also granted residents of the other the right to vote in all elections under the "Greater Hasanistan Free Travel Area". A free trade agreement was also reached where there would be no tariffs on any goods traded between the two countries, although it did not establish a customs union like Hasanistan has with Pavlov. The two also agreed generous regulations for flying between the two countries, despite the fact that flight is the least likely method of cross-border transportation. Finally, the two agreed on cooperation in various scientific, technological and intellgence programs.

The governance of Batyraq was also reformed. Before, it was overseen by a rotating presidency between the leaders of the two nations. However, now a Commission composed of their respective heads of state and government has been established. The leader of the State Union will be Chairman, while the Hasani President will be Vice-Chairman. His Imperial Majesty Shahanshah Iskender IV was granted the honorary leadership of the Pact by being appointed the Paramount Leader of Greater Hasanistan. An inter-parliamentary body has also been established to advise the Commission and strengthen political ties, known as Parliamentary Assembly of the Batyraq Pact.

The Batyraq duo has also agreed to build strong relations with the Mahusetan territories in the Greater Hasanistan region, Starnia and Virgo. They have also been offered to become partners in the Pact, although this has been speculated to be unlikely. President Hasan Çakar has said he hopes to talk with the Mahusetan Hasanistani Office for Intra-Hasanistani Affairs about the new agreement.

Hasanistan fails to reach 2nd TVB Microvision final

The Hasanistani entry in the second edition of the TVB Microvision Song Contest, an intermicronation song festival similar to Eurovision organised by Televisione Belcitese (TVB) from the Republic of Belcity. This year's edition is hosted by the Pinangese Republic who won the previous and inaguaral edition earlier this year.

Hasanistan's entry "Nonsense Screamed Into The Microphone" by Chase Mahoning is an avant-garde piece, having qualified by winning the this year's Turanfest Festival earlier. Despite high hopes, the song finished last in its semi-final with only twelve points. However, it received a high seven points from one of the delegate juries. Leopoldinsel, Indradhanush, Revalia, Scone Kingdom, Istria, Greater Greek Empire, Vodopol and Bavarian Colony of Saarland were the countries who entries successfully qualified for the final scheduled for New Year's Dat. Monteberg, Saengrummet, Mooreonia and the United Authorities also failed to advance in this semi-final.

In addition to its participation as a competitor, the Voice of Hasanistan has also provided support for international broadcasting and will seek to collaborate to develop a stream of the final. Hasanistan has also confirmed that it will participate in the 3rd Microvision, hoping to reach the final next time.

2022 general election called and date decided; Hasan Çakar not to run again as President

President Hasan Çakar has issued a presidential decree, setting the date for the upcoming 2022 general election. Elections are due to be held next year as the term of the Presidency and current Mejlis dissolve, although the election will be scheduled earlier than expected being held on 5 February 2022 rather than in November.

The general election will see Hasanistani citizens vote for the President and four seats in the lower house of the National Parliament. While the instant-runoff method for electing the Presidency will be used again from the previous election, the legislative election will now use a multiple block voting system similar to what is used in the Falklands Islands. This was due to November 2020's election system being criticised for its complexity.

It is expected that many significant politican figures will not seek re-election, with Natsuki Hegro having retired from Hasanistan (the Feudalist Party has also dissolved). Shady Morsi has also announced he will not stand as a candidate for President next year, although he is considering running again for the Mejlis. Most significant of all however will be the incumbent President and founder, who has announced he will not seek another term as President. On the matter, the President said "I must resign to prevent a return to dictatorship and allow our institutions to develop". However, he will continue to still have a political role as Başbuğ.

It is believed that current Prime Minister Chase Mahoning will seek to succeed Hasan Çakar. Other rumoured potential candidates include former Presidents Asghar and Tanju. The Ambassador to India and head of the Pavlovian Orthodox Church have also been speculated.

The full decree may be read here.

About us

Hasanistan, officially the Federal Republic of Hasanistan (Hasani: Hasanistan Federal Jumhuriyeti), is a self-proclaimed state with territorial claims situated across the Greater Middle East region.
