November 2020 election: Interview with Mejlis candidate Hegro of the Feudalist Party

In the first of a series of interviews to be held with the candidates of November's upcoming elections to allow them to state their policies and political beliefs, the Batyr Times begins by interviewing Natsuki Hegro of the Feudalist Party. An incumbent Mejlis representative and current Ambassador to the US, Hegro was elected as a People's Unity Party candidate but joined the Feudalist Party soon after its formation. The Feudalist Party supports an implementation of a feudal system within Hasanistan and is critical of modernism and the Enlightenment. Hegro has described himself as being neither left nor right.

Interview

Note: The views of this interviewee are their own personal views and not the views of the Batyr Times.
Q: Greetings Mr. Hegro, thank you for taking the time to speak to Batyr Times. You have decided to stand as a candidate for the Consultative Assembly. What was your reasoning for this decision?
A: I decided to stand for election in this great nation because, goddammit, we live in a society. A society that is fueled on corrupt parasites who feed on the people. And I, Natsuki Hegro, the famed incel racist gamer, will free Hasanistan's people from their chains of homophobic sexist bigoted xenophobia.
Q: What are you referring to when you mention corrupt parasites and homophobic sexist bigoted xenophobia?
A: Corrupt parasites are also known as every living being. We are all homophobic sexist bigoted xenophobes, and must be eradicated by the true warriors of mankind, the racists.
Q: So your party subscribes to the ideology of feudalism, why do you follow this ideology? Don't you think it is archaic?
A: No, my model of feudalism is not archaic, it is adapted to modern technology and some more modern understandings of concepts that were brought into jeopardy after the previous feudal time, such as ethnicity, to preserve and protect these concepts from being threatened again.
Q: How is your feudalism adapted to modern conditions then? Also, many are concerned that feudalism is oppressive, how do you reply to that?
A: I explained that my feudalism does not take a technologically regressive stance, since that would be impractical, given that non-feudal countries would use that technology and just make us vulnerable to being conquered.
Feudalism is not as oppressive as many think; my system harnesses what is called the "system of natural checks and balances," which ensures that the lord must provide for the people and listen to their grievances, lest he have a less productive workforce or get overthrown. The king has this same dynamic with his vassals, and so on. Unlike with democracy, which simply becomes a guise for rule by a bourgeois elite which has no direct responsibility to the people, my system creates a system of absolute inequality with no social mobility, whereby the country's elites are placed directly in charge of the people as an aristocracy, leading to maximum accountability and more visible corruption. This is opposed to democracy, which is always fundamentally corrupt and bought out by interests greater than the so-called voters (who are already dominated by the 10% burghers anyway), and is much more easily manipulable in more devastating ways. There is arguably more corruption, but under the guise of short terms, lobbying and dark money rather than the very transparent corruption of feudalism that is more easily rooted out.
Q: You make it clear you oppose democracy, does that mean an end to elections then? What would you replace Hasanistan's democratically-elected head of state with?
A: I would replace it with the Shehinshah, who would rule as an absolute monarch with an advisory body of the nation's begs to serve him as loyal vassals. Elections would be outlawed.
Q: What are your views on social policy? You stated earlier you oppose "homophobic sexist bigoted xenophobia", so does this mean you are a social liberal?
A: Well, I oppose them because I am a racist. You simply can't be a racist and also be a homophobic sexist bigoted xenophobe. By the way, I'm arranging a gay-barbecuing event for Nedland Pride, if anyone wants to come.
Q: Would you open a pride parade in Hasanistan? Aren't you concerned this will upset more religiously conservative Muslims and Christians in Hasanistan?
A: Well, of course I support a gay pride parade. It puts all the gays in one place so we can fine them and then institutionalize them. Saves time and effort.
Q: What is your opinion on economic policy?
A: A micronation shouldn't be concerned with economic policy. We don't have an economy, never will either.
Q: What is your opinion on foreign policy? Do you support Hasanistan joining international organisations? Do you support Hasanistani neutrality?
A: I oppose Hasanistan joining most international organizations, though it should be more on a case-by-case basis than anything. And yes, I support absolute Hasani neutrality.
Q: Would you work with the other parties if elected to the Mejlis?
A: I would abolish parties if possible. We want to give all power to the Shehinshah.
Q: Thank you for allowing us some of your time to participate in this interview.

Hasanistan withdraws from League of Asian Micronations

The Mejlis Hasanistan has voted to withdraw Hasanistan from the League of Asian Micronations, by approving the LAM Withdrawal Act 2020, in a vote that concluded today. The vote was passed by 3 in support, 0 abstensions, 0 opposition and 1 absent voter. Hasanistan immediately left the organisation upon the enacting of the decision, with the General-Secretary of LAM being informed before the public announcement of the decision.
Hasanistan joined the organisation in May. However, the decision to withdraw has been made because of recent infighting and LAM not being as active as Hasanistan hoped, as well as rumours that other major members had also planned the LAM. However, Hasanistan will still continue to maintain close ties with member states even after it leaves.
The full act can be read here.

Statement on recent Armenia–Azerbaijan clashes

Since 12 July, clashes have been ongoing along the Armenian-Azerbaijani border in the Tavush/Tovuz area. The clashes began after Armenian forces shelled Azeri positions for unclear reasons and have escalated, leaving 11 Azeri soldiers dead and 4 Armenian soldiers as of 16 July dead as well as the death of one Azerbaijani civilian.
The statement of Hasani government regarding the issue reads as follows:
"We call on unwarranted Armenian aggression against Azerbaijan and artillery fire on Azerbaijani villages to end. Such irresponsible actions at this time are not needed and only show character of Armenian regime. Our position on Azerbaijan-Armenia dispute is that Armenia should withdraw from its illegal occupation of Karabakh and allow displaced civilians that it had originally expelled in the 1990s to return to the region."

New Hasanistan-Cormac agreement ratified; free trade and mutual visa-free travel established

Today, Hasanistan and Cormac ratified an agreement establishing their new diplomatic relationship following the termination of the prior free association agreement in May. The original arrangement began after the two nations had both concurrently seceded from Montescano, and Cormac (then Jurijev) aligned itself with Hasanistan as an associated state. The agreement was ended after it was regarded that Hasanistan could not fully re-establish its historic neutrality policy while holding such a relationship with Cormac, thus plans were held to establish a new relationship.
The new agreement re-affirms mutual recognition and bilateral ties between the states. In addition, free trade (whereby tariffs are limited), visa-free travel and free aviation arrangements have also been set up between the two under the agreement to maintain close economic and social ties.
The treaty was ratified by Hasan Çakar, who is both head of state of Hasanistan and Cormac. The treaty can be read here.

Hasanistan ratifies Charter of the Order of Highway

Hasanistan has ratified the Charter of the Order of Highway, an international civil order dedicated to animals in micronationalism and also those who help better the lives of animals, following approval in a vote within the Mejlis. The vote passed by 3 in support, no opposition, no abstenion and one non-present deputy.
The order was founded following the passing away of Highway, the pet and companion of Brennonian head of state Chase Mahoning, to commemorate pets and those who support animals. The order is awarded by approval of signing nations, with two ranks of honour for humans (Knight and Grand Knight) and two ranks of honour for animals (Companion and Grand Companion). Mahoning's pet Highway had already been awarded as Grand Companion of the Order.
Hasanistan's ratification of the Charter means it shall recognise the legitimacy of the civil order and participate within its administration. Besides Brennonia, Mahuset has also signed the treaty.
