Statement on recent Armenia–Azerbaijan clashes

Since 12 July, clashes have been ongoing along the Armenian-Azerbaijani border in the Tavush/Tovuz area. The clashes began after Armenian forces shelled Azeri positions for unclear reasons and have escalated, leaving 11 Azeri soldiers dead and 4 Armenian soldiers as of 16 July dead as well as the death of one Azerbaijani civilian.
The statement of Hasani government regarding the issue reads as follows:
"We call on unwarranted Armenian aggression against Azerbaijan and artillery fire on Azerbaijani villages to end. Such irresponsible actions at this time are not needed and only show character of Armenian regime. Our position on Azerbaijan-Armenia dispute is that Armenia should withdraw from its illegal occupation of Karabakh and allow displaced civilians that it had originally expelled in the 1990s to return to the region."
