Debate begins regarding future of "Chakaristan"

A debate has begun within the Hasani government over the status of the former Nedlandic territorial claim Chakaristan, which has been left unclaimed since Nedland dropped claims on the region and dissolved.

The territory was created in mid-2016 by the Nedlandic government west of the Köktuğluk region, which itself was originally another foreign micronational claim of Pavlov which was reorganized as a province of Hasanistan during Pavlovian rule in February 2017. Nedland's new territorial claims in the region followed the suit of other nations friendly to Hasanistan establishing overseas territories on its border lands (such as Virgo, Konraq or Mahusetan Starnia). Nedlandic Hasanistan was split into two regions: the western half which was known as Lurbekistan and the eastern half which was named Chakaristan.

Following the re-establishment of an independent Hasanistan in 2018 after seceding from Pavlov, President Hasan Çakar contacted former Khan of Nedland Edward (who is also a citizen of Hasanistan and Hasani Ambassador to the United States) regarding the status of Chakaristan and Edward gave permission for the Hasani government to claim the region if it wishes. However, concerns have been raised over the territory due to its large size and the fact that it is almost half the current size of Hasanistan and larger than any other province.
President Çakar has stated that the Hasani government will make a decision regarding the territory following the appointment of the Supreme Council cabinet and potential elections for members of the Congress. Three potential scenarios have been laid out for the territory: it be annexed as a federal subject of Hasanistan, be given to a friendly micronation or become an independent state. The second option is controversial as the overseas territories established by other nation's near Hasani borders have not always been viewed positively by Hasani citizens and there has been some pushes to annex these. The Hasani government has hinted that it may create a puppet state to govern the region until a decision can be made.

Presidential statement on Venezuela coup attempt

On 30 April, self-proclaimed president Juan Guaidó led a group of military defectors in an uprising against President Nicolás Maduro. The uprising is ongoing with an unclear outcome although there is unconfirmed reports the uprising has ended in failure by the putschists.
In light of yesterday's attempted military coup and violent street clashes in Venezuela, President Çakar has issued a statement condemning foreign involvement in the Venezuelan crisis (especially from United States of America) while also calling for calm.
"The events in Venezuela that we have witnessed yesterday and which may potentially ignite again today are of huge concern to anyone who values national peace and sovereignty. We call on both sides among the opposing Venezuelan factions to put down arms and enter dialogue before the situation escalates to something worse. We also urge respect of the Venezuelan constitution and the democratic will of Venezuelan people.
In addition, Hasanistan condemns the attempts by the United States of America, European Union, Lima Group, Zionist regime and local powers like Argentina and Brazil to try involve themselves within the internal affairs of another country and attempting to push elements of the Venezuelan military to overthrow the civilian institutions of Venezuela. Very little good has come from US-led attempts to force their will on other nations in the past, especially in Latin America. We also dispute claims of US regime wishing to defend Venezuelan rights and democracy, as it is very clear their only interest is in natural resources of the country."
-Hasan Çakar, President of the Republic
