Yesterday, the heads of state of Hasanistan and the British micronation Helvetica ratified a treaty establishing mutual recognition and bilateral relations between the two nations.
The Republic of Helvetica is a relatively new micronation, although it has made a big impression so far within the intermicronational community. It joined the Konmalehth in earlier this May, roughly the same time around Hasanistan's accession into the organisation, and its head of state and founder Vilcho I took part in the recent Konmalehth vice-chair election. Despite losing, he performed much better than many expected of him. The politics of Helvetica take place within a framework of a semi-direct presidential democracy, with the President being both the Head of State and Head of Government.

President Hasan Çakar said following the ratification: "We have been building up strong ties with Helvetica. We both share many values that bridge our differences and our co-operation within the Konmalehth has helped the organisation develop. Establishing formal ties was a necessary step to help our new friendship with Helvetica flourish. May our friendship and our nations last long and prosper".
