Hasanistan passes law prohibiting insulting anime with severe punishments

The Mejlis of Hasanistan has successfully passed the "Anime Protection Act 2020" which prohibits citizens from insulting, mocking or attacking anime with the risk of severe punishment by state authorities. The Act, proposed by Naib-i-Şehinşah and Prime Minister Hasan Çakar, was passed by two votes in support, one in opposition, no abstentions and one absent voter. He then ratified the Act upon its approval by the Mejlis.

The Act states that the purpose of the law is to protect cultural heritage and tradition. The punishment for a single violation is seven months imprisonment and 50 lashings or canings. The punishment for "regular and repeated" violations of the act is either capital punishment by firing squad or stripping of citizenship and exile. However, Naib-i-Şehinşah assured citizens that the threat of firing squad is only a deterrent and will not be used except in the most extreme cases of insulting certain anime shows and characters.
The act may be read here.
