The poll, organised by the Batyr Times, had a sample of four people. It showed a strong lead for the People's Unity Party and its presumed candidate and current President of the Divan Chase Mahoning, likely down to the "incumbency" advantage due to their affiliation with the Başbuğ.

    • Shady Morsi - 25%
    • 0% support for other listed candidates (Tanju Çakar, Kriştov Drakonoff, Mohamet Ali, Feniks Tablekitten, Furkan Varol, Diyan Asenov, Hasan Çakar and the 'other' option)
    • 0% reported they were currently undecided
  • Party support poll:
    • People's Unity Party - 75%
    • Progressive Party - 0%
    • Independent candidates - 25%
    • Other - 0%

Başbuğ issues statement on the fall of the Syrian regime and Israeli incursions into Syria

Başbuğ Hasan Çakar has issued a statement following the collapse of the Ba'athist Syrian government of Bashar al-Assad. Assad's government had been fighting a over a decade-long civil war with opposition forces and various militant groups since 2011, which begun after he used heavy-handed violence against anti-government protests inspired by the Arab Spring. Bashar al-Assad had ruled Syria since 2000, having been the successor to his father Hafez, and the Ba'ath government has been accused of severe human rights abuses. The Syrian government was supported in the war by Russia, Iran and the armed group Hezbollah. In late November, rebel forces led by the controversial group Tahrir al-Sham launched a surprise offensive which initially captured Syria's second city Aleppo and eventually progressed into a nationwide defeat of Assad's forces in a matter of days.

Since the collapse of the regime, Israel has launched an incursion to establish a "buffer zone" for the occupied Golan Heights region (which is also Syrian territory, captured by Israel during the height of the Arab-Israeli wars). The statement additionally addresses the Israeli incursion.

The statement reads as follows:

"We welcome the news of the fall of evil regime of Bashar al-Assad and congratulate the Syrian people on their victory. The tyrant of Syria oversaw the death of thousands and the exile of millions of his people, motivated by the desire to maintain his own personal power and wealth, primitive sectarianism and the dystopian ideology of Ba'athism. One only needs to look at the terrible images coming from the liberated Sednaya death camp for confirmation. His regime brought misery not just to his own people, but to the neighbouring countries and even Europe as well as the war spread. He was supported in his repression by Russia and Iran as well as the armed group 'Hezbollah', who played their role in the massacre of the people of Syria. Hopefully his regime's collapse will be a lesson to these supporters, especially Russia who continues its own massacre of the people of Ukraine.

Hasanistan believed like much of the world that only a political process would have solved the war. One where he would step aside and allow the people of Syria to decide their future. However, Bashar al-Assad refused any compromise until the last day of his regime. Now, the people of Syria will hopefully have the power to finally decide their own future. While their future is their own decision, we hope a political process is finally implemented based upon UN Security Council Resolution 2254. This means a new constitution which guarantees rights for all Syria's people, whether Arabs, Sunnis, Shias, Alawites, Kurds, Turkmen, Christians or whoever else, and a voice for the common people in governance. We support the international community in any effort to rebuild Syria and believe that all refugees must be supported to return as soon as possible. It is of special importance for Hasanistan that our displaced Turkmen brethren are allowed to return to the lands from where Bashar expelled them.

Following the collapse of the regime of Bashar al-Assad and the victory of the opposition, there have also been reports of Israel breaking the 1974 ceasefire agreement and launching incursions into Syria. We condemn these actions by the Israeli state and call upon them to respect the territorial integrity of Syria."

Regional government established; election date declared alongside referendum

Başbuğ Hasan Çakar has announced that Hasanistan is to be reformed into a self-governing territory of the Great Turan State known as the "National Region of Hasanistan", citing the current inactivity and the need for a strong local government for Hasanistan. It is planned that the sanjaks of Hasanistan will organise to establish a single regional government under this new entity. The Başbuğ will continue to lead Hasanistan as a governor until the results of the next election and also a planned referendum. He has also appointed former Acting-President Chase Mahoning to the office of "President of the Divan", which will serve as a deputy position but may transition into a leading office.

The Başbuğ also declared that elections shall be held for members of the Mejlis and the office of President, which may be re-established fully, on 8 February 2025. Elections had been planned for a long time, although were postponed due to various reasons. In addition to the general election, a multiple-question referendum will be held on the follow issues:

  • Should Hasanistan be ruled by an elected president or a National Chief (the Başbuğ)? (Options: "Elected President" or "National Chief")
  • Should the role of the Assembly of Hasanistan be law-making or solely advisory and scrutinising? (Options: "Law-making body" or "Advisory and scrutinising body")
  • Should Hasanistan hold annual referendums on issues of public concern? (Options: "Yes" or "No")
  • Should Hasanistan abolish the right to form political parties and require all elected public servants be nonpartisan? (Options: "Yes" or "No")

The referendum will help decide the future governance of the "National Region", which the newly-elected Mejlis is planned to help draft. Registration of candidates and campaign can begin immediately.

Hasanistan Mejlis to be reconvened

Başbuğ Hasan Çakar has announced that the Hasanistani Mejlis is to be re-convened and has been reformed to provide accountability to government services and help make local decisions. The Mejlis had fallen into inactivity following Hasanistan's accession into what would become the Great Turan State. The Mejlis shall be composed of those elected in the last election and they shall be considered to be continuing to serve the same parliamentary term since their election.

The members of the Mejlis shall thus be as follows: Hasan Çakar, Chase Mahoning and Shady Morsi. The other seat, held by an individual who had previously left Hasanistan, will remain vacant. The political composition of the Mejlis has also changed since the election as the Pirate Party of Mahoning had previously merged into the People's Unity Party and the Ardajan Democratic Party has since dissolved. This has led to the People's Unity Party holding a majority of seats on the Mejlis. Shady Morsi had previously announced that he is a political independent but also the sole member of the informal technical grouping "Faction Fatherland".

Başbuğ criticises video game shutdowns

Başbuğ Hasan Çakar has issued a statement regarding the controversy of online video games being closed without any support for continued offline or community-run play and the removal of the right of players to enjoy them after they are closed. The controversy recently erupted after the servers of the 2014 racing game "The Crew" were shutdown and publisher Ubisoft began revoking licenses bought by players and removing it from player's digital library. A campaign known as "Stop Killing Games" has gained traction, petitioning governments in Australia, Britain, Canada and the European Union to act. Japan already has a law that refunds customers if a video game is taken down.

The Başbuğ's statement, vowing action and voicing support for stopping the practice, was as follows:

"Corrupt game corporations are removing our right to play video games. The fat cats of EA and Ubisoft should stop removing access to games and revoking them from libraries without any reason for products people bought with their hard-earned money. It is removing access to an experience of significant cultural and artistic value. While people may not regard it as so, removing access to a video game is like removing the ability for people to see a film or a piece of art work. Developers either need to provide gamers with support for offline play after they shutdown servers or fully refund us. I will do something about this in Hasanistan and support initiatives in other countries to stop this."

Hasanistan leader issues statement on Gaza conflict and other recent events

The Leader of Hasanistan and Başbuğ Hasan Çakar has issued a statement on the recent phase of fighting between Israeli and Palestinian forces since October last year. In the statement, Çakar called for peace, a permanent ceasefire, the delivering of aid to and opposing the ethnic cleansing of blockaded Gazans, release of prisoners on both sides and condemning "excessive tactics" of Israeli forces referring to the bombing campaigns of the Israeli Air Force, which have been regarded as causing high civilian casualties by many international aid agencies. He also opposed any expansion of the war into Lebanon and Yemen. He stated he believed Israel had "genocidal intent" in Gaza.

The recent phase of fighting between Israel and Palestinian forces, led Hamas but also including other groups, has caused the deaths of nearly half a million Palestinians (largely civilian women and children according to some estimates) and a thousand Israelis.

He also addressed the recent terrorist attack in Russia and the Baltimore Bridge collapse, issuing condolences.

The statement reads as follows:

"The current phase of fighting within the Gaza Strip after the Israeli military offensive, which occured following the border incursion by Hamas, are causing large-scale suffering and instability in the wider region and even the world. We express sympathy with anyone suffering in the conflict, condemn violence and oppose extremism. There must be a permanent ceasefire and adequate humanitarian aid to the besieged people of Gaza, allowing a return to the peace process. The excessive tactics of Israeli forces are especially concerning due to the amount of collateral damage it is causing. We also oppose any attempt at ethnic cleansing of the Gaza Strip and their permanent displacement. Civilian prisoners from Israel held by Palestinian forces and Palestinian prisoners who are being held without just reason by Israel must be freed, especially women and children. The war should also not expand into Lebanon and Yemen, further destabilising these other fragile countries.

The international community must play a greater role in pushing for an end of the conflict. The sale of weapons fueling this conflict must end, especially from actors such as the United States, France and India. Alleged war crimes from both sides must be investigated by reputable international organisations like the ICJ, OSCE, UN and the Turkic Council. Hasanistan supports the ICJ in its role in deliberating the case "South Africa v Israel" for violations of the Genocide Convention. In my view, the actions and rhetoric of Israel have constituted genocidal intent against the Palestinians.

I reiterate the position of the Hasanistani government in 2021 on the Israel-Palestinian conflict generally, we support a realistic end of the conflict which can only occur if the Israeli illegal (per international law) occupation and settlements in the West Bank, the blockade of Gaza and violations of the sanctity of Mesjid-i Aqsa end. We believe the Israeli government should also de-commission their nuclear weapons, end illegal and racist espionage activities by Mossad and distance themselves from radical groups like fundamentalist Kahanists and Sternists.

I also wish to express condolences to victims of the recent terrorist attack by Daesh in Moscow, Russia and the bridge collapse in Baltimore."

Note: Due to the sensitive nature of the conflict, some internet organisations have adopted censorious attitudes especially to those who are perceived to be anti-Israel and accuse them of racism and misinformation. The statement of Hasanistani public figures and publications of the Batyr Times only report on what has been reported by well-respected Western news agencies. Statements in quotes are neither endorsed or condemned by the Batyr Times as a publication.
