Başbuğ Hasan Çakar has announced that Hasanistan is to be reformed into a self-governing territory of the Great Turan State known as the "National Region of Hasanistan", citing the current inactivity and the need for a strong local government for Hasanistan. It is planned that the sanjaks of Hasanistan will organise to establish a single regional government under this new entity. The Başbuğ will continue to lead Hasanistan as a governor until the results of the next election and also a planned referendum. He has also appointed former Acting-President Chase Mahoning to the office of "President of the Divan", which will serve as a deputy position but may transition into a leading office.
The Başbuğ also declared that elections shall be held for members of the Mejlis and the office of President, which may be re-established fully, on 8 February 2025. Elections had been planned for a long time, although were postponed due to various reasons. In addition to the general election, a multiple-question referendum will be held on the follow issues:
- Should Hasanistan be ruled by an elected president or a National Chief (the Başbuğ)? (Options: "Elected President" or "National Chief")
- Should the role of the Assembly of Hasanistan be law-making or solely advisory and scrutinising? (Options: "Law-making body" or "Advisory and scrutinising body")
- Should Hasanistan hold annual referendums on issues of public concern? (Options: "Yes" or "No")
- Should Hasanistan abolish the right to form political parties and require all elected public servants be nonpartisan? (Options: "Yes" or "No")
The referendum will help decide the future governance of the "National Region", which the newly-elected Mejlis is planned to help draft. Registration of candidates and campaign can begin immediately.
