Acting Prime Minister Hasan Çakar has issued a statement on last night's air strikes on three Iranian nuclear sites by the United States ("Operation Midnight Hammer"), re-iterating the need for de-escalation and a return to negotations while also proclaiming Hasanistan's neutral status in the conflict. He also announced that the Hasanistani government has declared an indefinite state of emergency and period of martial law in the nearby Gulf territory of Körfeziye because of the conflict involving Iran, Israel and the United States.
The Acting Prime Minister's full statement reads as follows:
"Following the recent actions in the region, Hasanistan calls on all parties to act responsibility and seek a peaceful resolution of the current crisis. No party should take any more steps to make the situation worse. The dispute must be resolved by a return to negotiations to find a diplomatic solution on the nuclear issue.
Hasanistan maintains its neutrality in this conflict in line with our established foreign policy. However, due to the potential for further escalation and the risks this poses to our territories in the Gulf of Hasanistan, a state of emergency and the application of martial law shall be declared in our sovereign territory of Körfeziye.
The Hasanistani government continues to the monitor the situation."
