The Micronational Olympic Federation's 2026 Checkers Tournament recently concluded, with Hasanistan's sole participant reaching its knockout stage. The tournament, hosted by Slitronia and a part of the MOF's series of single-sport events, had been held over the past month.
Hasanistan's "cylete" Hasan Çakar began his tournament drawn into Group C, alongside Legion M (Democratic Republic of Eg), Despi Zografou (Hyacinthia) and Chrzan (Minaki). Çakar started with a victory over Legion by two games to none. The following 2-0 defeat to Chrzan meant Çakar's place in the tournament was dependent on his final game. After a close game, Çakar triumphed over Hyacinthian opponent by two games to one. Çakar finished top of his group, helped by his early victory over second-placed Legion being group ranking's tie-breaker.
In the quarter-final held on 24 August, Çakar faced Group B runner-up Wolfomir of the Participatory Republic of Dibistan. Çakar was unable to continue his success during the group stage after losing by two games to none.
The Checkers Tournament was won by Miroslavia's Miroslav I, who beat Dylan Callahan of Karnia-Ruthenia 2-1. Çakar's knockout stage opponent Wolfomir earned the bronze medal after a 2-1 win over the host country's hopeful Johannes I.
Hasan Çakar is expected to represent Hasanistan in another upcoming MOF event, which will be the inaugural Chess Tournament hosted by Mendersia.
