Tomorrow, Hasani citizens will vote in the country's first legislative election in its almost-nine year old history. The decision will decide who shall sit in the Mejlis, Hasanistan's unicameral legislature, to discuss and pass laws that will affect the lives of citizens. The election is also the first since the transformation into a monarchy, being a potential test for the new system to view its popularity.
There are total of five constituencies holding elections, four sanjaks and one representing the crown dependency of Ardajan, with seven candidates spread across them. The two sanjaks in Iskenderabat (Batyr) region will have competitive elections, while the others who face no opposing candidates will face public votes of confidence to see if they can command the confidence of their local residents to represent them.
There are both old and new figures within Hasani political history participating. The People's Unity Party stand three candidates, most notably founder and Prime Minister Hasan Çakar. Their main rivals in this election will be the Progressive Party, who are standing two candidates. The most notable Progressive candidate is Tanju Çakar, the former President of Hasanistan who once dominated electorally but has since become a perennial candidate. The two Çakar brothers will stand against each other in the Central constituency of Iskenderabat. Shady Morsi, the leader of the Northern League, is standing unopposed in Ardajan. A political newcomer is also standing in Kokbulus, with the prominent Muslim scholar Mustafa Abu Ali ibn Qasim standing unopposed.
Voting will start at 00:00 in UTC time and the results of the election will be revealed at 20:00 (UTC). The current Provisional Government will be dissolved the day after, with the Monarch appointing a new Prime Minister and the appointment of a new Divan.
